Since JavaScript site patches are used to improve site compatibility, an enhancement allowing developers to bypass those patches has been included. The setting is available when entering the "config:" URL, but should always be enabled for normal usage.

All users automatically benefit from the upgrade (no manual change is needed, though it is possible to check the server version using the "debug:" URL).

As this is a beta, we know there are issues, and we can't promise that the final version will be just like this. But, we would very much like your feedback on this Android project. If you find any bugs, please report them, either through the phone, or by going to the bug report wizard.

is how: File a bug report from https://bugs.opera.com/wizard/ and include the following information:

1. Step-by-step description of how to find the problem

3. Links to CSS or JS files that contain the problematic code - it's very important that we know exactly where the issue is.
   
4. Tell us how important you think the site and the problem is
   
5. Include a user script that solves the problem fully or partially
   
6. If it is the site's fault, mention whether you have contacted the site and asked them to fix it - if you know contact details please add them.

I'm proud to announce a project that has been in the works in Opera's QA group for quite some time. It is a tool called MAMA (Metadata Analysis and Mining Application). MAMA was created to help us improve Opera by finding real world sites that we could test with. MAMA allows us to find any combination of CSS, Script and markup factors that we desire. In a sense, it is a search engine for Web page structures instead of content.

MAMA has been tremendously helpful in testing Opera and measuring the popularity of technologies both new and old. One of MAMA's strengths is correlation between different issues. Want to find examples of a "tty" CSS media type that also use the "@import" syntax? Fine. Documents that have over 1,000 inline images or XML documents that use both Flash and external CSS? MAMA can find them.

We know that MAMA is useful, but we think it will be very useful to others too:

• Browser manufacturers and others can use MAMA data on the popularity of widely used technologies to prioritize bugs and justify adding support for new technology to in-progress releases.
• Standards bodies can use the data to measure the success and adoption rates of various technologies.
• Web developers can use the same data to justify support of various technologies in their work.
• It can provide real-world, practical samples of the Web developer's "art", for inspiration and instruction.

MAMA has a side effect that is also one of its most beneficial features: it gives Web authors a voice to the browser and standards makers by documenting actual practice.

MAMA's results for your consideration

In MAMA's introduction, and all the files that link from it, you'll find data that has been pulled from MAMA so far. We lead off MAMA's debut with a full study of markup validation. Along with this, a much shorter, condensed validation article covers some of the broad points of MAMA's validation findings.

Known issues

Star Trek V: The Final Frontier As this is a beta, there are a couple of known issues. Here's a list of some of them:

• Some of the new languages are not fully translated for the beta, but will be fully supported for the final version.
  
• There are several issues with notes in Opera Link. Your device may not support viewing or editing of very large notes. Backup your notes before trying!
  

What is RTSP

RTSP Henry Poole Is Here rip is a protocol used for streaming media, such as videos. If your phone supports RTSP via Opera Mini, you should be able to play e.g. YouTube videos on your phone. These will not be played in Opera Mini, but by the media software in the device. We would like to remind those of you without a fixed data subscription that streaming media requires a lot of
data traffic, and can be very expensive. Depending on the device, you may have to configure a new access point before streaming works. Also, some devices will not do streaming unless they are connected via WiFi (we have seen this on BlackBerry).

We just released build 4.1.11355 of Opera Mini. If you don’t use Palm or BlackBerry, you don’t really have to update.

What have we fixed?

• BlackBerry devices should now be able to only use Wi-Fi (also at installation).
  
• BlackBerry users can try BIS. We can’t guarantee that it’s working, but it works on one of our two different service providers.
  
• Palm devices now get better memory handling, which means that they should get more images. This is a hugh improvement over the last build, and hopefully it will be similar to the beta, in the eyes of Palm users.
  
• A user told us about a bug while adding bookmarks. Most of you have probably not seen it due to the strange reproduction path, but it’s fixed. Thanks to some guy using Yahoo mail in Argentina - you probably know who you are!
