Release notes for mobile

  • This build is based on Opera Mobile 11.5 for Android, and installs side-by-side next to the regular Opera Mobile 11.5 for Android.
  • This build is considered experimental and is intended for development and testing purposes only.
  • This build has not gone through full release testing, and may include unknown bugs or issues.
  • Two opera:config preferences are turned on by default: “Scroll is Pan” and “Smooth Scrolling”. As a consequence of this, long press and text selection are broken.
  • The device API does not have a user interface yet.

  • Opera Mini 6.5 will now show you exactly how much data you have spent and saved using the two products and, in turn, the money and time you save.

A dedicated page, easily accessible from the help menu inside the Opera Mini and Opera Mobile browsers, keeps count of how much data you are spending and saving in total, or for a specific timeframe like a trip abroad with roaming.

The number of megabytes saved while using the Opera Mini browser can directly translate into money saved if you are roaming or on a pay-as-you-go plan for data traffic.

For people on capped data plans, this is a handy feature to make sure you don’t max out reaching those slow, punishing network speeds you might encounter after using up your allowance.

    So what’s new?

Opera Mini 6.5 for Android change log

    • Added Data Usage view
    • Implemented decoding of WebP images received from Opera Mini servers
    • Implemented adding bookmarks to Home Screen
    • Implemented import of system bookmarks
    • Reintroduced Protocol setting
    • Fixed UI refreshing problems on Honeycomb
    • Fixed problems with Hybrid UI displayed on Tablets with Touch
    • Various stability and performance fixes

The Web is what I do:

We also launched Opera Mobile 11.5 for Android today
Opera Mobile is a full browser with client-side support for JavaScript, HTML5, Flash (Android only) and more. In Opera Mini, the browser engine is running on Opera’s servers. Web pages are transcoded and compressed up to 90% before being downloaded to the device, making Opera Mini lightning fast and also much cheaper if you are paying per megabyte.
