  • Minor Opera Mini Server Update

Today we updated the Opera Mini server to version 4.19.864.

This minor security update temporarily disables some client-side dialogs. Until resolved, these dialogs will be displayed in a web page instead of the client.

As this is a server update all Opera Mini users will experience the updated behavior.

  • Opera Mini 5.1 released today!

The Opera Mini team has hit a new milestone - we now officially support more than 3000 different devices!

With this milestone comes some even more exciting news - Opera Mini 5.1 for Java phones is here, an update to breathe new life in to low memory and small screen phones!

This update gives a new skin to devices with low resolution screens, and Nokia series 40 phones with low memory. For these devices, the new skin improves memory usage and usability, reducing the frequency of "out of memory" issues encountered.

    Who should download this update?
If your phone’s screen resolution is less than 200 pixels in either direction, or if you have a Nokia Series 40 phone with low memory (around 4MB or less), then you will receive the new skin. Opera Mini automatically selects the skin that’s right for you!

We’ve also added a keypad shortcut to switch to and from Mobile view (*0).

The update is not critical for Opera Mini users on Blackberries, smartphones or high end devices.

As always, we welcome your feedback here in our forum, and please report any bugs in our bug report wizard. Thanks!

    Regards,
    The Opera Mini team

  • Server Upgrade to 4.19.752

Yesterday afternoon the Opera Mini servers were upgraded to version 4.19.752. This upgrade also includes the latest version of Opera Presto, our rendering engine.

    • Upgraded to Opera Presto 2.5 (see http://www.opera.com/docs/specs/presto25/ for changes, but be aware that not all of them apply to Opera Mini). This also reflects in an adjusted user agent string:
      "Opera/9.80 (J2ME/MIDP; Opera Mini/CLIENT_VERSION/SERVER_BUILD; U; LANGUAGE) Presto/2.5.25"
    • improved image handling
    • better handling of Korean and Japanese charsets
    • fixed a number of site issues
    • history navigation fixes

All Opera Mini users automatically benefit from the update.
