You might have heard that Opera Mini is pre-installed on all Fly java phones in India. In doing so, we’ve made two new Opera Mini users, the sizzling Malaika Arora, and a new star of Indian cricket, fast and flitting, Ishant Sharma. This is what Ishant had to say - “Browsing the Web is so simple and fun. I get the latest sports news, movie times, Bollywood information, access to my e-mail — all on the go.”
We just released build 4.1.11355 of Opera Mini. If you don’t use Palm or BlackBerry, you don’t really have to update.
What have we fixed?
BlackBerry devices should now be able to only use Wi-Fi (also at installation).
BlackBerry users can try BIS. We can’t guarantee that it’s working, but it works on one of our two different service providers.
Palm devices now get better memory handling, which means that they should get more images. This is a hugh improvement over the last build, and hopefully it will be similar to the beta, in the eyes of Palm users.
A user told us about a bug while adding bookmarks. Most of you have probably not seen it due to the strange reproduction path, but it’s fixed. Thanks to some guy using Yahoo mail in Argentina - you probably know who you are!
PS: For Palm users, we recommend these settings in prefs: Use Double Buffering - on Use high resolution coordinates - on Set Memory Maximum: 1Mb Set Maximum Java Thread Stack Size: 32kb
Spice Mobiles has been pre-installing your favorite mobile web browser, Opera Mini, on all of its Java enabled phones. They recently aired this commercial with the Opera Mini logo.
First of all we would, again, like to thank all of you who helped us beta testing Opera Mini 4.1. You provided us with a lot of good feedback, and we are now ready to give you the full 4.1 version!
There are no big differences from the beta, but there are a lot of things that have happened behind the surface:
We have fixed a lot of bugs
Minor changes to saving pages
Several adjustments to auto-complete address input and upload/download
BlackBerry devices with old firmware now get Opera Mini 4.1 without JSR-75.
We all hope you enjoy the final version of Opera Mini 4.1!
The Mini Team is now preparing the final version of Opera Mini 4.1. Since the beta we have done more than 150 changes to fix various issues and to ensure that it will run as well as possible on your device. Many of these changes are based directly on feedback from you. Among other things we have adjusted how the “Save Page” function works and also made it possible for BlackBerry users to surf with Wi-Fi. And to the person that reported “Find in page does not work in Bookmarks page”: we have fixed that one as well
We would like to use this opportunity to thank you for the help in the test phase. Without your support we would not have been able to find all the strange issues on all those strange phones. Now, get ready to help spread the word that a new version of the worlds most popular mobile browser has arrived Wolfen video
