Bad News Bears dvdrip Once again we’re taking the trip to Barcelona to attend Mobile World Congress. This is absolutely the biggest event of the year for the mobile industry, and the place to be for anyone who is interested in the new developments and products that are coming out.
This year we have an excellent show planned. We’ll have a stand where we will be showing our products, doing demos and having fun. These four days in Barcelona are always hectic, but are also incredibly cool, and if you have the chance to drop by our booth, do so.
Our stand will be in Hall 2, Stand 2C76.
We’ll be showing off our latest Opera Mobile 9.5 and, of’course, Opera Mini running on lots of cool phones. There will also be some widget demos, and a Nintendo Wii for you to play browse with :).

Welcome to "Rest Assured", quality rants by Opera's Quality Assurance department.
My name is Snorre M. Grimsby, and I am the head of Opera's QA department. We would like to tell the world more about what testers and QA engineers at Opera do, and also discuss more general quality assurance issues. Therefore, posts on this blog will relate less to specific Opera products and technologies (and/or the testing of them). In other words, this is not the place to report bugs.
Today, we have people in seven of Opera's offices, organized in five sub-departments to align with our development lifecycle. We are responsible for testing and assuring the quality of all Opera deliveries and technologies, from Core versions to end-user and business products.
Internally, we use this definition of testing:
Activities that fall under the definition would be
We also develop, deploy, maintain, and administrate testing infrastructures, tools, and systems.
We often say that [t]he object of good testing is to find as many bugs as
possible
, and that [t]he object of good quality assurance is to find as
few bugs as possible
. What we mean by that, of course, is that testing is
about detection and that quality assurance is about prevention.
Work on process improvements (SPI), therefore, also falls under our QA department.
But our responsibilities actually go beyond testing and quality assurance:
If you have an interest in Web technologies, software testing, and/or quality assurance, we hope that you will find this a blog worth subscribing to.

We are proud to announce the beta release of Opera Mini 4.1. You can download it from http://www.operamini.com/beta
Please be aware that the first two features require JSR-75 support on your handset. Far from all handset support this, and it can also be turned on/off in the JVM or by the service provider.
We have now chosen to sign Opera Mini with Verisign and Thawte, and we will provide four different versions on our download server: Double signed (both Verisign and Thawte), Verisign, Thawte, and unsigned. The advantage of the signed version is that you can change permission settings to less restrictive permissions. The end result is that you will get fewer permission dialogs for e.g., file and network access.
We encourage you all to try the signed versions first, unless you have Palm OS or BlackBerry, and if none of them work on your phone, download the unsigned version. By trying to start a signed version, your phone will send some useful feedback to our servers which we will use later.
We hope you all enjoy this beta as much as us, and that you will provide feedback in our forum or directly in our feedback thread.
Known issues
As this is a beta, there are bound to be some known issues. Here’s a list of some:
What is JSR-75?
JSR-75 is an optional package for J2ME (this is very technical, meaning it can be included in the Java on your phone) which allows Opera Mini to access the file system on your phone. By accessing the file system, Opera Mini can download and upload files without going through the phone’s native browser. JSR-75 is also used when saving pages.

So I was at the Chandigarh Airport to catch a flight to Mumbai and got my boarding pass, when I realized that I had forgot my cell phone at home  . But I had Wi-Fi there, and I twittered it immediately
.
Fortunately, I did not miss my cell phone at all, as Barcamp Mumbai 3 was a rocking event. The event had a huge turnout, but more than that, I was impressed by the enthusiasm of the participants. Huge props to the organizers and the guys and girls at IIT-Bombay’s SJMSOM for the great event.
All kinds of people showed up, right from B-school students, to veteran entrepreneurs to hard core techies with years of experience. Also, it was heartening to see many first timers. Some of them did not work in the tech industry, but still came. And because of the eclectic mix of all these people, we had a great time sharing ideas, which was especially evident in the Firetalks which took place.
Navjot also presented there, and you can check out his presentation right here Made of Honor psp .
Hope to see you again soon, Mumbai!

We’re ready to announce one of the biggest changes Hamlet trailer to our community since its launch in 2001. We are really committed to our work, and there’s nothing greater to see new members joining or existing ones logging in!
But… There’s a catch to it all. As most of you know, developing Web sites today is time-consuming, and in order to maintain My Opera we’re forced to think of all different kinds of contexts when we create something new (or fix something old). So, Nicolas, Edoardo, Esteban, and I (together with front-end guys Fred and the new kid in town, Tristan) have decided that it only makes sense to continue development exclusively for Microsoft IE6 (according to our stats, the majority of our users are IE-followers).
Yeah, yeah, we know… We are the Opera community, but, boo-hoo-on-you!
There’s simply too much work to support all those browsers along with their interpretation of “standards“.
We can safely announce that starting today, a new era will arise.
If you think this is good, then help us digg it!
